Dr. Laura A. Prevratil, CPA, CFE, CFF
Laura is a Certified Public Accountant (Florida and New York) and a Certified Fraud Examiner with a unique twist in her educational background. Her undergraduate degree is in Fine Arts (sculpture to be precise). As she puts it, “when I grew up I went back to school and got an MBA in Accounting from Hofstra University.” She finished her education with a Doctorate in Accounting. Laura is a Professor of Accounting and teaches various courses in International Accounting, Financial Accounting, Finance, Fraud and Research at local Universities. She has written numerous papers on auditing, statistics, equestrian accounting and accounting harmonization and is the past Vice-President of Finance for the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) in South Florida as well as the past Chair of the Auditing and Accounting Standards Committee of the Florida Institute of CPA’s and a long time member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE).
Laura is a former Federal Agent with the FDIC in New York and has worked for regional CPA firms as well as governmental entities. Laura has specialties in personal financial accounting, IFRS implementations, statistical analysis and complicated presentation for SEC registered companies.
Laura splits her time between the US and Europe and lives on a small horse farm in Loxahatchee, Florida with her family while in the US. They also have a home in Rapino, Italy – where most of her family resides.
